OPTIC MultiMode Inlet available versions

The OPTIC-4 can be supplied in 3 different versions and with different options.
The main 3 versions are: OPTIC-4 standard, OPTIC-4 Pyro, OPTIC-4 ¼ ✗ 3.5 Inch version. Each version can have options like: CryoTrap, Auxiliary Electronic Flow or Pressure Control, LN2, CO2 or Peltier inlet cooling. different inlets




Standard versions    liner size 81 x 5 mm

2406-3001 OPTIC-4S Inlet System with single electronic flow control channel including Evolution Workstation control software.

2406-3002 OPTIC-4D Inlet System with two electronic flow control channels, including Evolution Workstation control software.

2406-3003 OPTIC-4SC/LN2 Inlet System with single electronic flow control channel including direct LN2 cooling cryogenic trap option and Evolution Workstation control software. Requires pressurized LN2 vessel (not included).

2406-3004 OPTIC-4SC/CO2 Inlet System with single electronic flow control channel including CO2 cooling cryogenic trap option and Evolution Workstation control software. Requires liquid CO2 bottle (not included).

2406-3005 OPTIC-4DC/LN2 Inlet System with two electronic flow control channels, including direct LN2 cooling cryogenic trap option and Evolution Workstation control software. Requires pressurized LN2 vessel (not included).

This version OPTIC is mainly for Thermal Desorption. (can be used with glass and metal tubes)

When injections below room tempertaure are wanted we have the next 3 options available:
2406-4180 OPTIC Inlet Peltier Cooler when injections below room temperature are needed.

2406-4160 OPTIC-4 Inlet Cooling Kit, CO2

Help with selecting your OPTIC-4 version:
First main selection is the liner type: standard type (OD: 5mm x L: 81mm) or ¼ inch type (OD: ¼ x L: 3.5 inch). Most common version of the OPTIC-4 is the standard type, this type has also more possibilities and is better for liquid injections. The ¼ x 3.5 inch version is mainly for thermal desorption applications where the industry standard ¼ x 3.5 inch thermal desorption tubes are used. Both metal and glass TD tubes can be used for this version OPTIC-4.
If you are not stuck to the ¼ x 3.5 inch thermal desorption tubes, we advise to select one of the standard versions of the OPTIC-4. The standard version is also very good for thermal desorption, pyrolysis and many other techniques.
The Pyro version uses the standard liners and for the maximum temperature of 700°C quartz liners must be used.

Next to select is a version with or without cryotrap. A cryotrap option helps to improve peak shape and detection level. The compounds coming from the inlet are refocused on the first part of the column and after trapping the cryotrap is heated in a very fast wat resulting in sharp peaks. Most of the times a trap is used in combination with pyrolysis and thermal desorption techniques.

One other important option is the Inlet cooling, standard the OPTIC inlet is cooled with Air and the lowest temperature that can be reached is bout 30°C. The speed of cooling with Air is really fast with the OPTIC, so no need for other cooling option in this case. When is wanted to inject below 30°C, we have 3 inlet cooling options available.
Inlet cooling below 30°C is usually not needed, mainly this is done for LVI with dichloromethane. (injection temperature of around 6°C helps to recover the volitiles)
